Unlocking a Stalled Planning Application in Seething
The Challenge
A full planning application for the erection of two dwellings on Seething Street, Seething was submitted in January 2023. However, following submission, the application became stalled within the planning system and made little progress toward determination.
The primary issue holding the scheme up related to unresolved ecological matters.
Our Role
Hardy Planners were instructed after submission to review the case, identify the reasons for delay, and take action to move the application forward.
Our Approach
On review, we identified that ecological requirements were the key barrier preventing determination. Working closely with the client and project architect, John Jenkins, we coordinated the necessary information and amendments to address the outstanding concerns.
Our work focused on:
Diagnosing the cause of delay within the planning process
Resolving ecological constraints holding up determination
Coordinating effectively with the design team
Re-engaging the application with the local planning authority
The Outcome
Once the ecological matters were resolved, the application was able to progress through the system and planning permission was successfully granted for the two dwellings.
Summary
This project highlights how targeted intervention and effective coordination can unlock stalled planning applications and deliver successful outcomes..
